Relief Society

I am a member of the world’s oldest and largest women’s organization, founded March 17, 1842. It’s a place where I can rest from the trials and temptations each week, and be uplifted by the sweet spirits of the other sisters. I am strengthened by their testimonies, their friendship and their love.

The motto is “Charity Never Faileth” and as I strive to incorporate that more fully into my everyday life, I recognize the wisdom in that phrase. When my child is screaming, terrified, I know that loving her and loving Christ will pull me through. When a sister is in need, I know that devoting a little time to go visit will help her pull through.

Just last week I was pretty sick. A sister, not my assigned visiting teacher, called me up, said she was in the neighborhood and would be over to visit teach me. She grabbed another sister and they came to spend an hour or so with me. It was delightful to have them in my home and share the bonds of sisterhood with them.

I am humbled by the testimonies and the strength of those around me. I am blessed by their care and concern. I hope that others are able to feel of this also.

About jaimeanne

I'm me. Graphic designer extraordinaire, urban master teacher of social studies, former adjunct professor, high school principal, and now most importantly-- Mom to the cutest little girl ever. I try to live by the quote, "Work like you don't need money, Love like you've never been hurt, And dance like no one's watching." I believe in Christ, and sometimes I'm just trying to figure out what He wants me to do. This blog chronicles that journey.
