Bust the BCS Already!

Did you see Boise State beating Oklahoma and remaining undefeated?

What will happen if Florida beats Ohio State in the BCS Championship and Boise State remains the only undefeated team in the nation? Should not they be national champions? After all, they defeated everybody on their schedule….

Bust the freaking stupid BCS already!

  1. One of the best things about the BCS is how much opportunity it gives for so many of us to complain about the mess.

I only watched the last series (I turned the TV on while they were showing Peterson’s overtime touchdown). What am amazing finish to the game. That was just too cool. I’m not 100% convinced on the undefeated teams of the weaker conferences deserving to play in the national championship game, but I was really happy to see them get to play a real team like Oklahoma and show that they are pretty special. Plus, I love whenever anybody beats Oklahoma.

  2. I HATE Boise State, but it was nice seeing Oklahoma lose. Why did it have to be Boise though.

There’s no real good reason (except debatable loss of money that the Bowls make) that there’s not a college football tournament.

  3. Is Lloyd Carr in his last season ? As a devoted Michigan fan, I find his performance a joke!!!! I think it’s more than time he was relieved. 3 bowls in a row gone down the tubes, rival teams creaming Michigan, I never was more disappointed at this Rose Bowl game, I’ve seen high schoolers playing better, what the devil is going on here? Replace him and soon before another lousy season for Michigan comes around !!!!!

  4. Mike,

Well said, except that I think weaker teams from weaker conferences should have the same opportunity. It works just fine in college basketball during March Madness. Why shouldn’t it work just fine in college football also? On paper, Boise State should not beat Oklahoma, but, as Chris Berman keeps saying, “That’s why they play the game.”

    Sherpa,

I think it has to do more with the power the old conferences have in being in control. They get more money, while conferences such as the WAC and the Mountain West don’t. Their thinking, I think, is that there is only so much money. And if they include the weaker conferences, the inevitable loss will be theirs financially.

    Toni,

I think Lloyd Carr is not done yet. But yeah, his teams recently haven’t been as good as some of his older ones.

  5. Sorry I am from Oklahoma, and I wanted them to win! :(

  6. Dan, that’s obvious–but like I said before, there’s no real reason that there shouldn’t be a legit college football tournament.
